Formation of Memory in the Neurological Hospital
by Andrew Galbraith
2007
Oil on Canvas Board 22 X 18 inches
Painted after my Dad had spent nineteen weeks in hospital
after brain surgery to remove a pituitary tumour had not gone well.
Thankfully he survived the brain haemorrhage (described as post operative
by the surgeon and discovered in the recovery room).
The painting reflects his struggle for survival and the time
when it was apparant that his memory had not been affected
by the bleeding or coma.
